My assumptions probably. My Linux is stable, I''d like to keep my
machine that way, hence wanted Linux at the ''top of the heap, if
you see what I mean.

I have, in fact I had the player running, but it seems that the curl
used by vmware
is OOD.
src->http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=234928
run the install
update for current kernel,
vmware-modconfig --console --install-all
remove certs
mv /usr/lib/vmware/resources/mozilla-root-certs.crt
/usr/lib/vmware/resources/mozilla-root-certs.crt.old
If needed, tools, then see
src->http://communities.vmware.com/message/1427520#1427520 Fiddle with curl
Unless I need the tools, I seem to have a start. Just need to know what they
give me.
