Hi Is there anyone who has successfully resolved the low throughput problem in Guest communication. I am using Xen3.4.1 with PV os kernel 2.6.30-rc6-tip On fedora11. While running netperf benchmark on guests throughput results are very low DomU to DomU 0.29 Mbps Why is it so? What would be the problem. Is there any issue with fc11 platform? Is there any issue with fc11 platform?- Is domU <-> dom0 slow aswell? - Is domU <-> internet slow? - Do you have errors on domU ethX interfaces? - Do you have errors no dom0 interfaces (pethx, all bridges, all vifs). - Does domU or dom0 have high CPU-usage? What does "top" show in dom0, and in domU? - What does "xm top" say about CPU usage? - Do you have errors in the logs? Please check - dom0 dmesg - dom0 /var/log/messages - Xen log: "xm log" - Xen dmesg: "xm dmesg" - domU dmesg - domU /var/log/messaegs Please try all of the above. -- Pasi _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
- Is domU <-> dom0 slow aswell? No its working well the throughput is around 2000 to 3000 Mbps in this case - Is domU <-> internet slow? No, Its working well. - Do you have errors on domU ethX interfaces? No such errors seen. - Do you have errors no dom0 interfaces (pethx, all bridges, all vifs). No, errors - Does domU or dom0 have high CPU-usage? What does "top" show in dom0, and in domU? To the max 10 to 20% while running netperf - What does "xm top" say about CPU usage? cpu usage 10 to 20% - Do you have errors in the logs? Please check - dom0 dmesg NO such messages - dom0 /var/log/messages No messages else this Sep 14 14:37:09 HPCNL-SR-2 kernel: vif1.0 (vif): not using net_device_ops yet Sep 14 14:37:09 HPCNL-SR-2 NetworkManager: nm_device_ethernet_new: assertion `driver != NULL'' failed Sep 14 14:37:10 HPCNL-SR-2 kernel: device vif1.0 entered promiscuous mode Sep 14 14:37:10 HPCNL-SR-2 kernel: eth0: topology change detected, propagating Sep 14 14:37:10 HPCNL-SR-2 kernel: eth0: port 2(vif1.0) entering forwarding state Sep 14 14:37:10 HPCNL-SR-2 logger: /etc/xen/scripts/vif-bridge: iptables setup failed. I have found some relevant error in the log files of guest domains /var/log/xen/qemu-dm-F11-G2S2.log the same error is shown in all guests I have used for netperf test. domid: 6 Warning: vlan 0 is not connected to host network qemu: ignoring not-understood drive `sda2'' Watching /local/domain/0/device-model/6/logdirty/next-active Watching /local/domain/0/device-model/6/command char device redirected to /dev/pts/4 /usr/src/xen-3.4-testing.hg/tools/ioemu-dir/hw/xen_blktap.c:628: Init blktap pipes xs_read(): vncpasswd get error. /vm/fb477f56-bb98-c144-54a4-74dd4379b094/vncpasswd.
