[Xen-users] Is it possible to restore an image into a domU using Acronis?
Is it possible to restore an image of a physical machine into a domU using Acronis? When I try to boot off the Acronis CD I get "Starting Acronis Loader..." but it goes no farther. Anyone else have any experience with this? Thanks, James _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Yes this possible... We did some P2V Migrations to Xen with Acronis TI Echo Workstation, but instead of the Acronis boot-cd we used a bartpe image with XP SP3 and drivers from driverpacks.net integrated. This works great, since you can boot from nearly all kind of hardware. Now I''m trying it on a xen server built on CentOS 5. I can''t get the test domU to boot off the cdrom. Can you give me a little more info behind the last part? How do you mean "add the disk I want to backup or restore to a spare windows 2003 hvm"? In my case I have an acronis image (three tib files) that I''m being asked to restore to a domU. The original server that the image was made from is no longer available. Re: [Xen-users] Is it possible to restore an image into a domU using Acronis?
I have done something somewhat similar on QEMU host with a WinXP guest on dual boot partition (I suppose I can treat restored image as a bootable partition). The main problem was about ntldr - and it was solved using fixntldr.iso ( http://tinyempire.com/notes/ntldrismissing.htm or something like that). Maybe that will help you, ZP. 2009/7/30 James Pifer <jep@obrien-pifer.com>> > ..... or add the disk I want to backup or restore to a spare windows 2003 > hvm which has gplpv drivers loaded. > > > > Andy > > Andy, > > Thanks for the response.
