Xen users - May 2009 - libvir: Remote error: Connection refused

I am trying to run the command:
su -c "virsh -c xen:/// list"

and getting the error:
libvir: Remote error: Connection refused
libvir: warning: Failed to find the network: Is the daemon running ?
libvir: Remote error: Connection refused
Id Name State
------------------------------------------------------------
0 Domain-0 running

What does this mean?

Which version of virsh are you running? On my version (0.6.1) the 
command is:

virsh connect xen:///

followed by:

virsh list

Other than that, make sure you have

(xend-http-server yes)

in your /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp
