[Xen-users] Howto use the serialport in domU (windows 2003 server)
Hello, I just googled around since a day and I can''t find a working solution to get the serial port to work under my domU (running windows server 2003). I want to use my external faxmodem from windows to receive incoming fax-calls from this machine. What I''ve done so far: --- cut grub.conf kernel /boot/xen.gz module /boot/kernel-xen xencons=off root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc real_root=/dev/dm-1 dodmraid module /boot/initramfs-xen --- cut I enabled the 8250 driver in my kernel (I needed to disable the "XEN -> Disable serial port drivers" option in my 2.6.21-xen kernel for this) --- cut # dmesg | grep tty serial8250: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A serial8250: ttyS1 at I/O 0x2f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A 00:0d: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A 00:0e: ttyS1 at I/O 0x2f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A --- cut and I finally changed my domU config to this: --- cut # cat /mnt/data/xen/configs/windows kernel = ''/usr/lib/xen/boot/hvmloader'' builder = ''hvm'' memory = ''1024'' cpus = "0" device_model=''/usr/lib/xen/bin/qemu-dm'' disk = [ ''phy:/dev/mapper/vg-windows,hda,w'', ''phy:/dev/cdrom,hdb:cdrom,r'' ] serial = "/dev/ttyS0" name = ''windows'' vif = [''type=ioemu, bridge=xenbr0''] boot="cd" keymap=''de'' vnc=1 vncviewer=0 sdl=0 --- cut unfortunately - it doesn''t work :/ Windows isn''t able to use the serial port. Do I miss something? Is there any debug-output I can review to see any kinds of problems? Uhm - expansive stuff only for using my faxmodem. Hmm... And with this device you can call your modem like any other locally installed modem from your domU windows box? Just as it were connected directly? Martin Am Donnerstag, 23.
