[Xen-users] Win2003+xen3.2.1: GPLPV paradrivers bluescreen - any idea why?
Greetings. My setup: Architecture: x86_64, XEN: xen 3.2.1, Dom0: Centos 5.2 , Kernel: 2.6.18-92.1.10.el5xen kernel, DomU: Win2003 Server. I have tried the GPLPV Paravirtualized drivers vv. 9.10 and 9.11-pre17, and I always end up staring at the famous Blue Screen. The halt codes are: STOP: 0x0000007B (0XF885EA94,0xC0000034,0x00000000) Driver installation completes, and the newly installed drivers show up as conflicting (with a yellow bang icon) beffore booting with the /gplpv option. What am I missing? Any clue? Any help greatly appreciated. Advanced thanks & Cheers, alf _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Can you tell me more about what is conflicting? Thanks James _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Do you have apic disabled? That will cause the problem you are seeing. Remove any line ''apic=0'' from your config file. The driver property page says there is a code 12 resource conflict (I''d post the exact message, but this particular machine speaks Italian, so it wouldn''t be much use). The resource pane just says that another driver needs to be stopped/disable in order to load this one.> Do you have apic disabled? Have you upgraded your Windows 2003 R2 Server to a Service Pack 2 (and via Windows updates too) before install the GPLPV drivers? 2008/10/10 Alessandro Forghieri <alf@orion.it>> Greetings. > My setup: > > Architecture: x86_64, > XEN: xen 3.2.1, > Dom0: Centos 5.2 , > Kernel: 2.6.18-92.1.10.el5xen kernel, > DomU: Win2003 Server. > > I have tried the GPLPV Paravirtualized drivers vv. 9.10 and 9.11-pre17, and > I always end up staring at the famous Blue Screen. > The halt codes are: > > STOP: 0x0000007B (0XF885EA94,0xC0000034,0x00000000) > > Driver installation completes, and the newly installed drivers show up as > conflicting (with a yellow bang icon) beffore booting with the /gplpv > option. > > What am I missing? I use a call in the GPLPV drivers which is only supported under Windows 2003 sp2 and above (the R2 bit doesn''t make any difference in this case). Greetings. James Harper wrote:> I forgot to mention that. A few answers: o) Yes, running SP2... o) ...and pre-18 drivers make no difference.... o) ... and the most I can tell you about used IRQs are the ones for the primary (14) and secondary (15) IDE channels (but these are well known methinks). As stated before, the property page for the SCSI/PCI driver says "Not enough resources. You have to unload another driver etc." If there is another way to find the info you need, I will have to be supplied with a click-by-click "idiot guide"...
