[Xen-users] Xen 32 w/PAE will not allow over 16GB RAM
We have faced a limitation when Xen 32bit running PAE will not allow over 16GB RAM. I came across this message: http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2005-11/msg00159.html However I''m not sure this still holds? Is there anyway around this limitation other changing to 64bit? _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I''m not aware of that limit having been lifted. Just wanted to point out that if you have 64-bit hardware available, you can run a 64-bit Xen with a 32-bit PAE dom0 and domUs, so it''s not necessary to completely rebuild your system in order to make such a switch. Re: [Xen-users] Xen 32 w/PAE will not allow over 16GB RAM
Hi Mark, Thanks for the quick reply. The problem we currently have is we were not aware of the 16GB limitation, and built our hardware with 32GB - so rather than moving and starting from scratch with new hardware, want to try and work around if possible. Also the software we are using to manage Xen (Hypervm) does not have the best support for 64-bit so I hear, and I don''t think they support running 32bit guests on a 64bit host. If we make the change in http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2005-11/msg00159.html , and rebuild the kernel with support for 32GB RAM are we likely to run into any problems? Cheers!
