[Xen-users] how to debug slow HDD performance in Windows 2003 domU ?
Hi I''ve recently setup CentOS 5.1 x64, with a Windows 2003 Web x64 domU and assigned 1 CPU & 1GB RAM to it. Today, which installing something in Windows, I notice that it takes ages to install a program. Running xm top, it doesn''t seem like it''s running out of RAM or CPU, and checking Windows Task Manager, I can see it consumes only 2 - 6% CPU, and 127MB RAM in total. So, I believe it''s probably an IO problem then? xentop - 14:07:05 Xen 3.1.0-53.1.21.el5 4 domains: 1 running, 3 blocked, 0 paused, 0 crashed, 0 dying, 0 shutdown Mem: 8387960k total, 4979120k used, 3408840k free CPUs: 4 @ 2133MHz NAME STATE CPU(sec) CPU(%) MEM(k) MEM(%) MAXMEM(k) MAXMEM(%) VCPUS NETS NETTX(k) NETRX(k) VBDS VBD_OO VBD_RD VBD_WR SSID cPanel001 --b--- 7673 0.6 1048444 12.5 1048576 12.5 2 1 30798 700440 1 0 196241 935986 0 cPanel002 --b--- 221 0.1 1048420 12.5 1048576 12.5 2 1 67 2408 1 0 20380 23765 0 Domain-0 -----r 2111 0.6 2208840 26.3 no limit n/a 4 4 1606255 7887454 0 0 0 0 0 windows2003_web --b--- 317 2.0 532352 6.3 1064960 12.7 1 1 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 The server is a Dell PowerEdge 860, with a Dual Core 2.4Ghz Xeon CPU, 8GB DDRII-667 RAM, and 750GB SATAII HDD. Installing something in a CentOS domU was very quick, so I also presume it''s something Windows specific, but this is my first Windows domU attempt, so I don''t know what to look for.
