Hi list, After setting up 4 DomU on my server. I decided to take my baby for a ride. In one of my DomU I am installing Rails, and it takes for ever. My server has a P4 3Ghz cpu, Dom0 has 600Mb ram and DomU has 528Ram. Hard drive is Sata2. When I type xentop I get: Domain-0 Cpu > around 10% DomU Cpu > 10-25% In Dom0, when I type top, I get: Cpu(s): 0.0%us, 0.0%sy, 0.0%ni, 98.7%id, 1.2%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.2%st My cpu is hardly used by DomU. Is there something to tweak for the cpu? _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Is there something to tweak for the cpu?Today I was looking for some info about cpu utilization, without much success; however, I can think in a couple of things. First, it might be the case that whatever you are running in DomU does not need to use more CPU than what is actually using. It seems you are not having problems with other VMs consuming CPU time. Second, you could look for some info about scheduling, although I don''t think is that helpful if you only have one DomU. Sorry for not being of much help, Gaston I could suggest that what you are running in DomU cannot run with much more consumption> > _______________________________________________ > Xen-users mailing list > Xen-users@lists.xensource.com > http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users >-- La única verdad es la realidad. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
Well installing Rails took roughly the same amount of time on my P4 3Ghz server, than on my good ole'' PIII 500 I have at home... So I guess there is some additional tweaking required when setting up a Xen server. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I use LVM. I thought it was the fastest. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
