Doh! I thought I''d fixed all of those problems. The very worst that
should have happened was a BSoD when the system realised that it hadn''t
disabled the driver yet and found it was too late to do anything about
it.

Can you please confirm that all the xen driver files installed
(C:\windows\system32\drivers\xen*.sys) are exactly the same as in the
0.8.8 release? Maybe the drivers aren''t being upgraded? Or is it a new
install?

After install (and before reboot i.e. no boot with /gplpv) I have the 
following files in C:\windows\system32\drivers\xen*.sys..

xenaddresource.sys 
xenEnum.sys
xenhide.sys
xenpci.sys
xenvbd.sys

all with date 31-mar-08 (same as in 0.8.8 release)

after boot with /gplpv I get a dialog box saying xennet device found and 
installs (during which I loose all comms to dom0 (and i assume other 
domUs) which isn''t good)..

i now have xennet.sys

And I have two c:''s and the same for the cdrom..

Interestingly under the Device Manager & 

Xen PCI Device Driver is release 0.8.8 
Xen Block Device is 0.8.8
Xen Enum Device Driver

however 

XEN PV VBD SCSI Disk Device is 5.2.3790.0 and from Microsoft?
similar for CDROM Device
similar for Xen Net Device Driver

Expect the DomU to never boot again after that. Bad file corruption will
happen. I''ll have to revisit my fix to that problem.

Yes. Xenvbd provides a SCSI interface, and Microsoft provides the
drivers for the things it finds on that SCSI interface.

Yes I understand, is the network to dom0 suppose to drop out briefly when 
installing the xennet driver?

No I''m wrong about that, its GPLPV 0.8.8.0

One thing when I install these drivers, I don''t allow it to connect the
Microsoft to search for the latest versions of the drivers.. I''m behind
several firewalls & so arn''t allow direct net access..

If the xennet driver and the qemu (rtl8139) driver both load at the same
time then that happens. Not sure why... my best guess was that something
throws a fit when the same MAC address appears on two ports of the local
bridge.

Can you specify the exact version of windows you are running, eg I''m
running Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition sp1 with all the pre-sp2
hotfixes installed.

ok that make sense, so if a disable the qemu driver it should be ok?

Its Windows 2003 Standard Edition SP1 with no additional hotfixes,

I''ll get all hotfixes installed and see if it fixes the problem..

I''ve just upgraded to Windows 2003 Standard Edition SP2  and
i''m still
having the same issue..

I assume Standard and Enterprise are exactly the same at the driver level..

Any other ideas?

All I can suggest now is wait until I''ve fixed the current bugs and try
the next release. There are definitely some strange ones in there and I
haven''t discovered exactly when Microsoft made the change that caused
the problems.
