[Xen-users] Terminal Freezing when I try to start a domain
I am trying the start the configuration below. And it starts without error. When I run xm console <cfg> . My ssh terminal freezes and shows the output below. So my question is. What is the expected behavior here. What am I supposed to see... A login prompt?? Any advice on what to do next would be great. sc # # Configuration file for the Xen instance ed.bos01.locamoda.net, created # by xen-tools 3.5 on Mon Dec 17 17:12:13 2007. # # # Kernel + memory size # kernel = ''/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22-14-xen'' ramdisk = ''/boot/initrd.img-2.6.22-14-xen'' memory = ''1024'' # # Disk device(s). # root = ''/dev/hda1 ro'' disk = [ ''file:/mnt/xen/domains/ed.bos01.locamoda.net/ disk.img,hda1,w'', ''file:/mnt/xen/domains/ed.bos01.locamoda.net/ swap.img,hda2,w''] # # Hostname # name = ''ed.bos01.locamoda.net'' # # Networking # vif = [ ''ip=10.1.4.70'' ] # # Behaviour # on_poweroff = ''destroy'' on_reboot = ''restart'' on_crash = ''restart'' root@virtual01:~# Started domain ed root@virtual01:~# xm console ed [ 0.000000] Linux version 2.6.22-14-xen (buildd@crested) (gcc version 4.1.3 20070929 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.2-16ubuntu2)) #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 23:20:20 GMT 2007 (Unofficial) [ 0.000000] Command line: root=/dev/hda1 ro [ 0.000000] BIOS-provided physical RAM map: [ 0.000000] Xen: 0000000000000000 - 0000000040800000 (usable) [ 0.000000] end_pfn_map = 264192 [10035.397853] Zone PFN ranges: [10035.397856] DMA 0 -> 264192 [10035.397858] DMA32 264192 -> 264192 [10035.397860] Normal 264192 -> 264192 [10035.397861] early_node_map[1] active PFN ranges [10035.397863] 0: 0 -> 264192 [10035.413186] No mptable found. Re: [Xen-users] Terminal Freezing when I try to start a domain
This was exactly my problem when trying to run Windows on Xen. I was expecting some kind of graphical console, showing the windows installation program, or something, but I was told I needed VNC. I got it working with VNC, and solved the freezing console issue, but the performance was really poor. Is this the way of displaying Windows on Xen, via VNC? Tell me if you find another solution.
