[Xen-users] Problems compiling 3.1 on i386 debian etch
Hello, I have a Problem compiling xen 3.1 from source on a up to date i386 debian etch system. I''ve searched the web for the error message I''m getting but didn''t have any luck finding a solution to my Problem. Only people with the same Problem. Here is the Error message I''m getting when try the "make world" ######################################## make libxenctrl.a libxenctrl.so libxenctrl.so.3.0 libxenctrl.so.3.0.0 libxenguest.a libxenguest.so libxenguest.so.3.0 libxenguest.so.3.0.0 make[4]: Entering directory `/usr/src/xen-3.1.0-src/tools/libxc'' gcc -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -m32 -march=i686 -DNDEBUG -std=gnu99 -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -Wno-unused-value -Wdeclaration-after-statement -D__XEN_TOOLS__ -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -mno-tls-direct-seg-refs -D_GNU_SOURCE -Werror -Wmissing-prototypes -fno-strict-aliasing -I. -I../xenstore -Wp,-MD,.xc_core.o.d -c -o xc_core.o xc_core.c cc1: warnings being treated as errors xc_core.c: In function ‘xc_core_shdr_get’: xc_core.c:195: warning: assuming signed overflow does not occur when assuming that (X + c) < X is always false make[4]: *** [xc_core.o] Fehler 1 make[4]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/xen-3.1.0-src/tools/libxc'' make[3]: *** [build] Fehler 2 make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/xen-3.1.0-src/tools/libxc'' make[2]: *** [install] Fehler 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/xen-3.1.0-src/tools'' make[1]: *** [install-tools] Fehler 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/xen-3.1.0-src'' make: *** [world] Fehler 2 ######################################## Fehler is german and is translated with Error. Re: [Xen-users] Problems compiling 3.1 on i386 debian etch
Hi, I can''t help with this problem directly, but there are packages for 3.1 in Debian unstable. They build fine in Etch so you could just download the source package and rebuild with dpkg-buildpackage. And an extra benefit is better management of the installed files. Much easier to uninstall/upgrade etc. (actually, I rebuilt Ubuntu Gutsy packages on Ubuntu Feisty, but it''s basically the same thing). Re: [Xen-users] Problems compiling 3.1 on i386 debian etch
Thanks John my Problem are not the xen-tools it''s the Dom0 kernel. I never got a kernel that I could boot on my system. I only use SATA drives but my chipset (82801GB/GR/GH) ist reported to work fine. http://hcl.xensource.com/?show=109&showtype=component The kernel from etch didn''t work, see thread 2 days ago, and debian testing and sid don''t come with xen-kernels, just the tools. Well as far as I can tell. Thanks anyway Ben Am Freitag, den 28.09.2007, 18:27 +0100 schrieb John Leach:> Hi, > > I can''t help with this problem directly, but there are packages for 3.1 > in Debian unstable. Re: [Xen-users] Problems compiling 3.1 on i386 debian etch
Hi Benny, you didn''t really make that clear in your original post. As for Kernel, the Ubuntu Gutsy kernel (2.6.22) works fine with 3.1 for both dom0 and domU - I''ve tested it quite heavily.
