Re: [Xen-users] Xen patch for Linux 2.6.22 / 2.6.23
As well I need a patch for kerne 2.6.18-8.1.8 because xen 3.1 compile straight forward on 2.6.18 but it fails on 2.6.18-8.1.8 anyone has a patch for it ? thanks Rick Goswin von Brederlow wrote:> Hi, > > can anyone point me to a patch for Xen support for Linux 2.6.22 and/or > 2.6.23 (rc whatever) kernels? > > MfG > Goswin > > _______________________________________________ > Xen-users mailing list > Xen-users@lists.xensource.com > http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users >_______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Actually it is linux-2.6.18.8.tar.gz <http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/linux-2.6.18.8.tar.gz> from kernel.org RedHat does not have 3.1 embedded but 3.0.3 and I need 3.1 Riccardo Dominique Rousseau wrote:> Le Thu, Aug 30, 2007 at 04:37:25PM +0200, Riccardo Veraldi [Riccardo.Veraldi@cnaf.infn.it] a écrit: > >> As well I need a patch for kerne 2.6.18-8.1.8 >> because xen 3.1 compile straight forward on 2.6.18 but it fails on >> 2.6.18-8.1.8 >> anyone has a patch for it ? >> > > 2.6.18-8.1.8 looks like some distro patched version (my guess for > Redhat), which may have somme xen-enabled kernels > > >_______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I have not been able to verify that their patches work for creating a non-PAE kernel. -- Chris Dukes < elfick> willg: you can''t use dell to beat people, it wouldn''t stand up to the strain... much like attacking a tank with a wiffle bat _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

You can try to use Ubuntu Gutsy Development version. Beware that this is alpha stage. There''s 2.6.22-10-xen kernel and sometimes works, sometimes crashes DomUs depending on allocated memory size etc. I''m also not happy with networking as I always need to do: ethtool -K eth0 tx off to make it work, both on Dom0 and DomUs. If 2.6.20 is enough, than you can go for Ubuntu Feisty and try Sdrik''s repositories with 2.6.20 kernel and Xen 3.1 http://cedric.gabriello.fr/ubuntu/ Br, Emre On 8/30/07, Goswin von Brederlow <brederlo@informatik.uni-tuebingen.de> wrote:> > Hi, > > can anyone point me to a patch for Xen support for Linux 2.6.22 and/or > 2.6.23 (rc whatever) kernels? > > MfG > Goswin > > _______________________________________________ > Xen-users mailing list > Xen-users@lists.xensource.com > http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users >-- Emre Erenoglu erenoglu@gmail.com _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
If you want to run domU, not dom0 and you don''t mind missing a few features (suspend-resume / live migrate, framebuffer, maybe a few others) then you can compile the kernel.org 2.6.23 to support both Xen domU and native boot.
