We wanna use XEN to provide GameServer Hosting and MMorpg Hosting on our server on dual xeon 2.8Ghz with 3GB of ram on gentoo system with XEN 3.0.2 on 2.6.16.28-r1 patched kernel and Gentoo on DOMU. We have a lot of problem with this kind of realtime application. for example Counter Strike Source server engine or L2J (java emulation of lineage 2 server) is too laggy to rent a good server. On the same machine with plain gentoo distribution we have no problem, but on Xen-Gentoo system we have a lot of lag problems. L2J configuration example: xm list Name ID Mem(MiB) VCPUs State Time(s) Domain-0 0 125 4 r----- 50825.6 airin 3 1600 2 ------ 154591.2 hallate 4 1300 2 r----- 83373.9 (airin and hallate provide 2 different L2J server) xm sched-sedf Name ID Period(ms) Slice(ms) Lat(ms) Extra Weight Domain-0 0 100.0 95.0 0.0 0 2 airin 3 100.0 38.0 0.0 0 4 hallate 4 100.0 63.3 0.0 0 4 xentop - 12:24:54 Xen 3.0.2 3 domains: 1 running, 2 blocked, 0 paused, 0 crashed, 0 dying, 0 shutdown Mem: 3145256k total, 3131212k used, 14044k free CPUs: 4 @ 2791MHz NAME STATE CPU(sec) CPU(%) MEM(k) MEM(%) MAXMEM(k) MAXMEM(%) VCPUS NETS NETTX(k) NETRX(k) SSID Domain-0 -----r 50833 3.6 128152 4.1 no limit n/a 4 8 3113564 1421358 0 VCPUs(sec): 0: 50069s 1: 145s 2: 100s 3: 517s airin -----r 154640 20.7 1638076 52.1 1638400 52.1 2 2 6385002 4695512 0 VCPUs(sec): 0: 93581s 1: 61058s hallate ------ 83399 10.6 1330868 42.3 1331200 42.3 2 2 5087847 3616569 0 VCPUs(sec): 0: 49536s 1: 33863s I try to lock airin on first 2 cpu and hallate on the second 2, but any changes on xentop. On this example u must remember this 2 virtual L2J server provide an MMORPG server for 400 people connected on the same of AVERAGE... so u can undestand how is heavy and realtime for server! We wanna work with this beatiful application for virtualizzation but in this time we can''t do it for this strange problem. Any suggestions or questions? Regards & many thanks for any help!
