[Xen-users] Does my platform support VT? (dell 1855/Xeon/linux)
Hello I''ve installed Xen3.0.2-2 on my platform: Dell 1855 and Xeon CPU. xm dmesg doesn''t show me VXMON If I go to intel site http://www.intel.com/products/processor_number/chart/xeon.htm I see that all Xeon CPU supports VT. Mines are 2.8GHz. But if I do a cat /proc/cpuinfo I don''t see the flag vmx. I read in archive that somme people had to enable VT in BIOS. I don''t found anything related to VT in the BIOS. So, How can I enabled the VT on these CPU? Thanks Lire vos emails en vacances ? Note: PE is PowerEdge, my PE2850 doesn''t work too. http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=pes_bios&message.id=3287 So, you can''t use guest OS with 64 bits, but you will be able to run guest OS with 32 bits (is it correct? :) -- Tiago Cruz <tiagocruz@ig.com.br> _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

To find out if you have 64-bit capability, you need to look for "lm" -> long mode [which you have in the capabilities of your processor]. However, if you want to mix running Xen-guests at 32-bit and 64-bit OS, then you will need to run HVM (AMD-V/Intel VT) to achieve that, at least at the moment. However, 32-bit apps work just fine on the 64-bit OS [with a very small number of exceptions - I have so far not found a single one that I needed to run, but I''ve read about apps that don''t work]. -- Mats> > -- > Tiago Cruz <tiagocruz@ig.com.br> > > > _______________________________________________ > Xen-users mailing list > Xen-users@lists.xensource.com > http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users > > >_______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I''m pretty sure my poweredge sc1430s do as well. seph _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
