your DVD writer is an ATAPI device, not SCSI.  did you try

	sudo cdrecord -dev=ATA:1,0,0 Desktop/berry-0.72.iso
	                   ^^^^
	                   ^^^^

or just use the /dev/hd* device directly (recommended in 2.6.x kernel anyway
IIRC):

	sudo cdrecord -dev=/dev/hdc Desktop/berry-0.72.iso
