Dear All, I''m trying to figure out which XEON processors have VT enabled. I Just bought a DELL PowerEdge 1420SC server with dual XEON 3.2 Ghz, but when I look at /proc/cpuinfo i can''t see the VMX flag on any of the four CPUs listed. How can I tell wether it is a BIOS problem or a processor lack? Thankyou Andrea _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

If you don''t see the option, either the processor doesn''t support it (so check links send previously) or you have to update the BIOS (or wait for a new firmware that will support it). Hope this help, Cheers, Guillaume _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

As my question still remains "unresolved", I''ll try again here by hooking it on this thread. According to an article in gamepc.com, Intel''s Xeon 5000 Series (Dempsey Dual-core 65nm), i.e. the 5080 - 3.73 GHz processor should have VT support. The 5000X chipset for workstation, i.e. the Supermicro X7DAE Intel 5000X Xeon motherboard is used: http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=xeon5000&page=2 http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=xeon5000&page=5>From what I can grasp the new Dell Precision 490 workstation looks to bebased on the above parts, according to its system specs: 1-2 Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5000 series 64-bit processors Intel 5000X chipset http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/precn_490?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&~section=specs#tabtop Though Dell 490/5000X workstation looks very interesting for my purpose, VT isn''t mentioned among Dell''s spec or product information. And Dell locally hasn''t been able to get confirmed from Dell pre-sail support or product manager if the 490 workstation really is VT-enabled or not on my question. Maybe Dell isn''t ready to market VT yet, maybe waiting for MS Virtual PC? I would be surprised if 490 isn''t VT-enabled, but there is a chance that the BIOS isn''t yet. Therefore I didn''t ask just about the processor, chipset and motherboard, but about its BIOS as well. Can someone on this list tell something about? Rgds, Terje J.
