Hi, I''ve seen multiple posts on this list mentioning a xen version 3.0.2.2 these days. On the download site for the source package, I see only a 3.0.2 package. Is this a re-occuring typo of multiple list-users here, who mean actually version 3.0.2-2 or do packages have different names than the version they actually contain? Or do I need to search for xen package at still another location? If you take a closer look, it is the same file, so there was no new stable release since Apr 13. -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4937486 2006-04-13 13:49 xen-3.0.2-2-src.tgz -rw-r--r-- 1 root staff 4937486 2006-04-13 19:25 xen-3.0.2-src.tgz root@vps3:/usr/local/src/xen# cmp xen-3.0.2-2-src.tgz xen-3.0.2-src.tgz Henning Sprang wrote:> Hi, > I''ve seen multiple posts on this list mentioning a xen version 3.0.2.2 > these days. > > On the download site for the source package, I see only a 3.0.2 package. > > Is this a re-occuring typo of multiple list-users here, who mean > actually version 3.0.2-2 or do packages have different names than the > version they actually contain? > > Or do I need to search for xen package at still another location? > > Henning > > _______________________________________________ > Xen-users mailing list > Xen-users@lists.xensource.com > http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users-- Yuri Pismerov, System Administrator Armor Technologies (Canada) Inc. Re: [Xen-users] xen version 3.0.2.2 available? where?
Hi, On 6/14/06, Chris Fanning <christopher.fanning@gmail.com> wrote:> [...] > Have a look carefully on > http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/Research/SRG/netos/xen/downloads/ > for this line > xen-3.0.2-2-src.tgz 13-Apr-2006 18:49 4.7M GZIP compressed tar ar>So I assume my guess is right, the 10+ people writing 3.0.2.2 are just accidents who meant to write 3.0.2-2... (please, people, get more exact! For those who never realized it: information technology is an exact science, every time you type _one_ character wrong, a machine can make 1000 mistakes as a result of this). I am so interested in this because there were multiple inconsistencies in xen versioning and versions of xen published on multiple servers in a non-synchronized fashion. e.g. xen 3.0.2 was available from the www.cl.cam.ac.uk server, but only 4 days later on the xensource servers. So, carefully looking doesn''t always help, because it''s sometimes unclear _where_ to look at. I never received a comment on this when I asked about why such things happen on either xen-users od xen-devel. (hear me, xensource product manager?)
