When you say you''re struggling to get anything installed, what steps have you done so far? Also, what architecture are you trying to install on? This list is probably as good a place to start as any for support :-) Regards, Jon _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

It just moans about the install directory being wrong. What is the name of the script that you are using to start the install of your Dom1? It''s likely this is a Fedora supplied script in which case it should be possible to create your own config file outside of the Fedora utilities and start the VM using the xm create <config file> command. The name of the script is xenguest-install.py To use this I just run this. I get asked a few questions like how much memory and disk space. Then the install fires off. It works a treat. -----Original Message----- From: xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com [mailto:xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com] On Behalf Of Jonathan Ervine Sent: 06 June 2006 16:23 To: xen-users@lists.xensource.com Subject: Re: [Xen-users] xen support sites On Tuesday 06 June 2006 16:05, James Roberts wrote:> Ok sorry > My DOM0 is fedora core 5 > > I can use the script supplied with the xen to install a 2nd fedora core 5 > xen machine.I''ll hold my hand up and say I''ve not worked with a Fedora Dom0 :-) However, there''s no reason why with a few changes to the config file for your Dom1 you can''t kick off an install for Dom2 etc. etc.> However when I try and install another linux with the script nothing > happens. I do not have any issues in making Fedora core 5 machines. But I wanted to run other linux distros. -----Original Message----- From: xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com [mailto:xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com] On Behalf Of Jonathan Ervine Sent: 06 June 2006 16:43 To: xen-users@lists.xensource.com Subject: Re: [Xen-users] xen support sites On Tuesday 06 June 2006 16:24, James Roberts wrote:> The name of the script is xenguest-install.py > To use this I just run this. Do you have enough free space on the Dom0 filesystem? If it''s complaining about the install directory being wrong, it sounds like it can''t pick up the installation source (yet this should be the same for Dom2 as it was for Dom1 which worked). If you want paste in the output from running the xenguest-install.py script and we''ll see if there''s anything obvious wrong. Lightbulb goes on over my head at this point... What other Linux distros did you have in mind? Do you have a network install location set up for these distros? I can send you a config file for openSUSE 10.1 off-list if you want? It would need some changes to make sure that your network install location and disk device location were configured correctly, but should otherwise run ok. The script you are mentioning is not part of Xen, it is an add-on script that the Fedora team added to FC5 to help install FC5 domU''s. It is not intended to install other distros etc. For Fedora-specific help, you will find it easier at the Fedora-Xen mailing list: http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-xen Also, I have a how-to describing how to use QEMU to setup any version of linux as a domu here: http://mitopia.net/index.php/Xen_3.0.2_Setup The specific example described in that HowTo is installing FC4 as on domU on a FC5 dom0, but it will work for any type of domU. _____ From: xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com [mailto:xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com] On Behalf Of James Roberts Sent: Tuesday, June 06, 2006 11:24 AM To: Jonathan Ervine; xen-users@lists.xensource.com Subject: RE: [Xen-users] xen support sites The name of the script is xenguest-install.py To use this I just run this.
