I need to run windows. I know that its not possible to do directly on Xen on an older CPU, but is it possible to run vmware on top of linux running inside a host? VMware expects to be running directly on the hardware, and uses a kernel module (I believe) to let it run code in ring-0 of the processor. That won''t work in Xen''s paravirtualized mode. You could try using something like QEMU, but you''ll take a big performance hit. --Michael Vrable _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I tested it! R. Roland _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Michael stated correctly that VMWare won''t run in a *paravirtualized* guest... and should be true regardless of the physical hardware. But the CPU load is very high on the XEN Guest. But you can work. The CPU Load on the linux Host is about 2 x 30 -35 % Regards Roland Please Post only to the mailing list. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
