Hello, I just installed Xen 3.0.2. It was installed on a CentOS 4.3 box. when i''m working inside the child, sometimes network traffic freezes for about 5 seconds, then it comes live again. While this happens inside the child, the host is ok. I searched for this kind of behaviour, and found this post: http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2005-07/msg00373.html (almost an year old, but it''s the exact same problem) I didn''t play with it at all, everything is pretty much default. Any thoughts on this? _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
Hi, I''m seeing similar problems on _one_ of my DomU, installed with Gentoo Linux. Xen is 3.0.2 with Kernel 2.6.16. The problem is, that reproducing these hangs isn''t possible, because I couldn''t find the cause yet. All I can see is, that drop-counts on the virtual interfaces monitored with xentop are rising and none of the packets is transmitted to DomU. In my case that''s a really bad bugger because my DomU is configured to use nfsroot. :-( Greetings, Tom Am 11.05.2006 um 05:10 schrieb Rodrigo Borges Pereira:> Hello, > > I just installed Xen 3.0.2. It may be worth noting that this was with Xen 2.0.x, so if this flaw has indeed been carried forward to 3.0.x, well, I''ll have to start finding the budget for ESX. I have had some trouble with 3.0.x on a test machine, but I haven''t had the time to figure out if it''s the same issue and until now, I was the only one reporting the problem. It may be worth knowing what hardware are you running this on -- maybe it''s a problem with a particular driver... Hello, What do u mean by "on one"? You have other domu''s in that machine with similar configs that do not have that problem? That would clear the hardware/driver cause, no? best regards, rodrigo> -----Original Message----- > From: xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com > [mailto:xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com] On Behalf Of > Thomas Schneider > Sent: quinta-feira, 11 de Maio de 2006 6:42 > To: Xen Users > Subject: Re: [Xen-users] Intermitent network hangs > > Hi, > > I''m seeing similar problems on _one_ of my DomU, installed > with Gentoo Linux. Hello I wonder whether there are other ways than "xm migrate <domainname> ..." to migrate a domain somewhere else. It would be great if the migration could be triggered by the domain itself, not from dom0. Thanks for any hints Ales Cervenka _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

The server could then run the actual migration commands through the python xen api. mr_ala wrote:> Hello > > I wonder whether there are other ways than "xm migrate <domainname> ..." to > migrate a domain somewhere else. It would be great if the migration could be > triggered by the domain itself, not from dom0.You could issue an ssh "forced command" from DomU to Dom0 which will do that. You create a public/private keypair in DomU and put the public key in /root/.ssh/authorized_keys in Dom0. Then you modify /root/.ssh/authorized_keys and put a command=/path/to/the/command in the first bytes of the key, f.e: command="/root/bin/check_for_updates_ssh" ssh-rsa AAAAB3Nz+VKpU... of course you have to configure /etc/sshd_config in Dom0. Now from DomU you call sss -i /homedir_dont_need_to_be_root/.ssh/mykey root@192.168.1.1 and that command would be executed. The command could be a shell-script or whatever you like. Even 2 or more commands are allowed f.e. command="/usr/bin/updatedb; /usr/sbin/makewhatis -u" ssh-rsa C1yomIG4567XAme9... I''m experiencing similar problems on a machine runing Xen 3.0.2 with 2.6.16 kernel. The network chipsets are tg3. The machine has a single dual core opteron with 6 GB RAM. I''m seeing the drop packets and initiating a network connection is sometimes delayed.
