Hi folks, someone on this list wrote that xen unstable is quite stable and he is running it for quite some time without problems – as far as I remember. I have tried it myself and am quite disappointed so far. I have tried the source from yesterday (domU could not connect to the assigned partitions and vifs), then I tested the src from 27-09 I happened to have - the domU crashed on restart and shutdown, even simply writing files from pico was a pain. So I would like to know: How is the experience from all others out there? Is anybody running it and experiences it as "quite stable". Any comment is welcome. It is unstable by definition:-) Dirk H. xen-unstable should be approaching release quality *however* sometimes things still get broken as the finishing touches are applied, corner cases are cleared up, etc. You''re likely to be happiest if you read through some of David Barrera''s daily test e-mails and download a specific changeset that he rates as "all good" for your platform. I see a sample message at http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2005-10/msg00335.html referring to changeset: 7234:bd37123974b2 but I don''t know how to get that specific version of the source. The mercurial tutorial talks about "hg pull" but pull doesn''t seem to take a version tag... and trying the obvious... [root@xeon xen-unstable.hg]# hg pull -u 7234:bd37123974b2 pulling from 7234:bd37123974b2 abort: repository 7234:bd37123974b2/.hg not found! ... gets the expected error. None of the other hg commands jump out as being the solution. -Tom _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Is anybody running it and experiences it as "quite stable".Other than the network issues mentioned here over the past few months (bug #208), unstable has been rock-solid for us. We''ve had a system in production with 3-5 production domU''s on it for months. Running SMP Athlon and wanting everything under the sun to work one tends to land in unstable territory quite a bit. For other users the changeset you are using and hardware combo could be useful. Anyone else care to add changeset hardware combo success and what features of xen you use that would be great. This would be good information to get into the wiki.
