When a window or a dialog of an application opens, it is automatically positioned somewhere on the screen (for example somewhere in the center). In current Wine and Ubuntu Oneiric (I can't tell for other distributions), child windows of automatically positioned windows appear offset, often at [0,0] in the top left corner of the screen. This is not too much annoying for tool windows, but it is a severe problem for UI widgets like drop-down lists (see image). [Image: http://i.imgur.com/3f8f9.png ]
