Hi all, I'm relatively new to Ubuntu and I will most likely install WINE on my next desktop for gaming. However my present puter is an Acer netbook and I would like to run MS Paint on it. I know you will tell me there are a lot of other Ubuntu apps that can do the job but I want MS Paint and it would be nice if I didn't have to log in and out of OS's just to access MS Paint from time to time. Anybody knows if and how I can run Paint in WINE? Cheers and thanx! PepeLapiu

Its a very simple and easy to use paint program. If your looking for something more complicated with a million more features, then look for "GIMP". Both above programs run natively in Ubuntu and would not be run in WINE... Enjoy! Jesse

You could install VirtualBox (its free and in the Ubuntu software catalog) and then install Windows(R) XP into it and then run XP's paint program all while still in Ubuntu? Here is the answer: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=373 If you open the link you will find test results for different versions of Paint. In case you want to try to run Paint from Vista or Windows 7, please do so and add your test results to AppDB.
Please be aware that MS paint is part of MS Windows and it depends what country you are in if it is even legal to run it inside wine. So please use native software instead. Legal is Legal. Due to the legal risks there will be very little support to make MS paint work.

However, Wine recommends using Mono. The winetricks script can and should be used to install any of these products. James McKenzie
