Wanted to see if anybody else has had this issue and, if so, how they resolved it. I'm having an obscure problem with Borderlands that at first seems to present as my game not being saved at all - when I go to play again, the save file is there, but it just starts me at the beginning of the game (right after I get off the bus and the robot gives me my HUD). However, upon closer inspection, it's actually starting me back at the beginning of the game with my character (level/xp, equipment, etc) all intact. Note that there is an issue with this game and saving that's unrelated to WINE - see http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=85867 - I did try this remedy but passing that argument to the executable causes it to crash on startup stating that it can't find/open a file or something like that. I tried creating all the directories in ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/borderlands/ but no go - I'm running in Windows 7 mode anyway (although I tried XP to no avail). This issue doesn't seem like it would crop up in WINE anyway - in XP mode it wasn't having any trouble locating my save file and graphics settings. Right before posting this I tried copying the save file to my (Windows 7) laptop and loading it and, lo and behold, it loaded right up to the location where I saved. So the problem is definitely occurring in the routines to load the save file. I would just play on my laptop but in order to get it to run at a halfway reasonable frame rate I have to play at 512x384 >.>
