I installed WINE 1.3.15 by compiling the source code for it (because I had to apply a patch to WINE for a game). However, because of the installation through the terminal I now do not get the full WINE folder that appears in Applications>WINE; At the minute, Applications > WINE > Programs > whateverIHaveInstalled. Before, when I installed via UBUNTU SOFTWARE CENTER, it installed the full menu including wine tricks. How do I know if I have wine tricks installed, and is there anyway to get the menu back to the one that includes Winetricks, Winetricks Alpha, Wine Config etc etc. Thankyou.

Both of those things were added by your distro to its packages. If you compiled Wine yourself, you have to download winetricks yourself, and add menu items for things like winecfg yourself.
What happens if, having installed WINE through compiling WINE source code, I download Winetricks through the Ubuntu Software Center? Basically, I do not need to install Winetricks through compiling it just because I used this method for WINE, do I? Thanks.

It is just a small script file that gets downloaded. So it does not matter how you get that. Although it may be better to just download it yourself over a distro package since the script changes often and the distro package may not be up to date. John
Thanks. Actually, installing winetricks from the ubuntu software centre has re-enabled the menu I used to have before installing WINE via source code. That is, I now have: Browse CD Drive, Configure WINE etc etc. I have WINETRICKS in that menu too, but my friend has WINETRICKS(ALPHA) also. Should I get this, I cannot seem to find it?
