You are right it's an DirectX issue and it's easy to fix. If you install the stand alone version you have to update DirectX. I had the same Problem under Windows. @vitamin Sorry but I installed all DirectX files which were available in winetricks and nothing changed. Only the Update from Microsoft worked. I am not absolutely sure but I think the Microsoft update is the only way to make it work.
