Hey you guys, ok I have been trying to get The Sims 3 base game running on my Lenovo L512 on Ubuntu 10.04 for several months now and I just don't seem to be successful. So I was hoping, maybe you can help me out on this one: I installed it using PlayOnLinux (v. 3.8.8) which installs Wine 1.3.4, I run the game on Wine 1.2.1 (since thats the working Version, see here: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=16664&iTestingId=58209). I followed all the steps from here: http://www.playonlinux.com/en/topic-2530-Solutions_for_frequent_problems.html. Everything went well with the installation but whenever loading a town the game crashes to the desktop after loading like 1/6 of the bar. The bug is known and reported here: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18991. I ran the fixtz.exe from the bugreport to fix the Mono timezone bug and nothing changed. Can you help me out here? Thanks a lot Dominik
Don't bother using the launcher; bypass it and run the game directly, a la http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18991#c78 Also, you should consider just running the game with plain up to date wine; the only workaround needed is winetricks d3dx9_36.
