Installing nvidia-glx and configuring it seemed to do the trick. Thanks guys.

Note for future reference. wikidjeff. Deletion in this forum is impossible. Reason the forum is a front end for a mailing list. As soon as you press Submit its emailed so there is no way ever to get it or destroy it. Yes this is the reason why threads get locked not deleted. At most you can do here is request a thread lock.
