Hi there, I am trying to start learn Vietnamese language, have found some ( http://www.lingvosoft.com/Vietnamese-items/?refid=1425&fixed ) transtators/phrasebooks that look good for me. Now I am trying to start it under WINE (1.1.9, Fedora 8, kernel & glibc from 10). 2 softwares (Voice Translator English - Vietnamese and Voice Phrasebook Vietnamese - Polish) installs fine. Case 1): Translator: on launch complains about "missing Vietnamese language support", clicking "continue" and doing some play with font config gives WORKING software, BUT "speak" option on Vietnamese is grayed out. (works for English). Can't install (found on M$ site LIPSetup.msi for Vietnamese): installation dies with this: http://www.laurentp.republika.pl/temp/slownik2.png . Case 2). Phrasebook (working on Win$ laptop despite complaining about Vietnamese support) simply dies. (may provide console output). No matter LANG is pl_PL or en_US. Please provide some help...

If not, do so. However, as support for Fedora 12 will be withdrawn within 90 days, it might be a good idea to upgrade it to Fedora 13 or 14 at the same time. IMO Fedora 14 would be the best choice. This will include the Wine upgrade since Fedora 13 is now using wine-1.3.5 As moving from Fedora 8 to 13 or 14 is a big step, you'll probably want to do a clean upgrade. If /home isn't a separate partition, remember to back up /home before the upgrade and do a custom install to put /home in its own partition. The reason for doing this and a description of how to do it is here: http://www.libelle-systems.com/free/linux/easier_upgrades.html Martin
