wine users - Sep 2010 - wineboot problems

hello people,
I am trying to launch a windows program, and I'm getting this error:

I am under Fedora 13 and never messed up the wine configuration (I would not
touch it with a very long stick...)
Just to be sure I uninstalled and reinstalled all of the wine packages, but
nothing changed:

wineboot is a Wine internal program.

Can you open a terminal session, su - to go to root and run find / -name
'wineboot*' and give us the result?

Reinstalling wine never does anything.  Instead,
remove or rename your .wine directory.

I feared so,
but before posting here I googled around, and saw that my kind of error was
probably due to some kind of broken install of wine
