Hi guys! I have a little problem! I installed ubuntu 9.10 and so reinstalled wine (version 1.0.1). I also installed playonlinux and, via playonlinux, I installed call of duty 2 and guild wars (platinum rated games, if I'm correct): they work directly out of the box! But I have 2 problems: the major one is that every 5-10 seconds, my gameplay lags for 1-2 seconds, that is really annoying! The second one is that sometimes the sound doesn't start at the game startup! These 2 problems are common to both games! What could the problem be? I have an ati mobility radeon HD 2600 and didn't modify significant options, nor added any win library! Thanks in advance!
Btw, playonlinux has also downloaded more recent versions of wine, which I can choose in the config --> environment menu before starting a game! But the problems persist whatever version I use!

Yes, but the problem persists also if I start the game without playonlinux, via the standard wine menu. What could be done to solve this problem under wine? Playonlinux simply installs the game starting the wine environment and creating the wine prefixes. The problem is wine-related.
xaber1488 wrote:> Playonlinux simply installs the game starting the wine environment and creating the wine prefixes. Not really. Remove ~/.wine prefix (or make a new one) and install your game. Do not use POL in any way shape of form, or your topic would be just closed. Report any issues when using POL to their forum. The stutter could be caused by lagging audio (have you removed/disabled pulseaudio?) Or video memory management bugs (lower down picture quality, increase video memory size in registry).
Sorry but I am not very good with wine: so are you telling me that the pol installation could be causing the lag and that could be better to install without pol? Btw, how can I do what you say? Can you tell me or give me a link on how to increase video memory, disable pulse audio and removing the prefix?

(Actually not as bad as I remember it, but most things should still be checked in the wiki...)
