Actually the software (HyperWorks) is running OK, but I do not have the
workspace for 3D surfaces. In original workspace area I just see one gray area.

I guess this is a program which uses 'opengl child windows' for 3d
views. This only works well at the moment on Nvidia hardware. Ati and other dri
drivers still need to offer this functionality properly (they need to offer
'redirected gl rendering' which is also needed for some compiz effects).
You won't get gl rendering working well in your app.
