wine users - Sep 2008 - NWN2 completely black screen

K, followed the install advice for NWN2 from their forum:

I THINK I did the registry changes correctly, I will post if someone wants to
see them.  Basically I just created a string named each of those things and then
set the value as the item after the = sign.
I am using Wine 1.1.4, NWN 2 version 1.11.1152 English, Ubuntu 8.04, and the ATI
driver for my radion 2600.

When I launch the game, it seems to load ok (launcher, then splash screen) but
as soon as the game itself launches, all I get is a pure black window that locks
up.  I have to kill the process just to get it to close.

Any advice?  I don't even know where to start...  I hear that the ATI driver
is potentially the problem?

So I removed everything and reinstalled right after Wine 1.1.5 came out, and
sure enough there was a change!
Bad news was, not a change for the better.
Now I get this weird flickering overlay of the web browser (I keep firefox in
the background so I can alt-tab out of the frozen game) with a diagonal slash
accross it.  Looks like bars of web browser interlaced with bars of black
screen.  Also, Alt-tab no longer gets me out of the program, but I can right
click the toolbar at the bottom and close it.  This leads me to suspect a
graphics card problem, and I have the ATI driver for a radion card, so that
would not be surprising.  Anyone get ATI drivers to work with NWN2?  Thanks.
I am really trying not to turn this into a dual boot machine, cause I am not a
windoze fan...
