I'm using wine 0.9.30 and when I open a program it displays boxes, lines, and grids instead of the correct language font. I tried reinstalling/recompiling it but to no avail. I didn't have this problem before though I don't know when it first appeared, I only first noticed it when I was trying to install an SSH Secure Shell Client. - Joe

For me it was a problem with X (Xorg 7.0) windows and nvidia drivers but I do not remember how I fixed that. John
Maybe you could try reinstalling fontconfig, I had trouble with fonts sometime ago and I seem to remember it helped me. -- Fabrice DELENTE
Hello,> boxes, lines, and grids instead of the correct fontIf you have a real Windows installed somewhere, try copying files from c:\windows\fonts to either Wine's faked c:\windows\fonts (thus ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts), or to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF. The latter worked for me, many versions ago...
