I updated wine to get a game working...this messed up my old games so I removed wine...then i reinstalled it..Now when I try to reinstall my game (morriwind) it give me this error: The install shield Engine (ikernal.exe) could not be launched. Backup and reinstall is a major PITA because of some of the customisations that I've done e.g. the DNS Server is set to log queries (the default does not do this). I am running Dovecot with Postfix on a FreeBSD machine. There are problems with the drive and I cannot depend on it. Dovecot saves all mail in IMAP format. I want to back up the mail folders, install a new HD, install the latest FreeBSD OS and then reinstall my programs. Reinstalling Dovecot is simple, but how do I reinstall the IMAP folders? Can Dovecot backup the folders onto a CD and then import them when I reinstall it? My mail is kept under ?/var/mail/vmail?. We have tried the standard checking log files, remove/reinstall pc into domain/ldap, remove/reinstall user into domain/ldap, etc but nothing seems to work. What we usually end up doing is reinstalling the users OS and programs. I know there has to be a better way to do this. Is there anything I may be missing here? Any pointers are more than welcome.
