Compuserve through wine
Has anybody had success in running Compuserve or a
related program through their fake_windows drive?
I think that the main problems would be
a) Compuserve's proprietary dialer
b)Compuserve's proprietary browser
c)Compuserve's proprietary timing mechanism ( that
measures how long you've been online)
d) A failure of the fstab i...

Can I use "mcnemar.test" for 3*3 tables (or is there a bug in the command?)

I am two applications away from being MS-free. The second is

just try to copy the files from my old computer and run wincim.exe
under wine, absolutely nothing happens (which is absolutely
maddening). Is there any hope o...

How to get IE6 stable?
Hello,
I installed IE6 with both WineTools and IEs4Linux (under different user
accounts).
Most of the features work, but IE often hangs. Then I can only kill the
process.
Has someone got IE6 stable under WINE?
If so, which WINE version do I have to use and how shall I configure
it?
Thanks in advance,
Colin Finck

...e it. Is it feasible to run Linux as a low
priority task under RT-Linux and to then run the windows app with
Wine? Would the Wine app be able to communicate with the low
level RT stuff?
Any info or suggestions much appreciated.

Winetools is terrific
...h faster.
I did encounter a number of instances where a message stating that the
debigger was starting popped up, but the debugger never actually did
start.
Later, I tried IE, and, for the limited use I have for it, it worked
well.
Now, finally, another problem. I tried to install siftware from
Compuserve again. I had it working, at least partially, some time
back. I may have just gotten lucky on loading native dlls. Now, it is
installed, but when I try to start it, it drops to the debugger. I am
appending debugger output below. I don't know what to do next. I doubt
the software is availa...

Missing headers in Icecast2
Hi everybody,
Assorgia and me, we have worked on the Flash client for Icecast2. We got
successful results with:
-Windows (Netscape, Mozilla, CompuServe, or Opera) -Macintosh and
Linux(Netscape, Internet Explorer for Macintosh, Safari, AOL, Opera, or
CompuServe)
For Windows (Internet Explorer or AOL) some headers sent by Icecast2 are
missing. These headers are sent by Icecast1 but NOT Icecast2 (it is the
reason why it always works with Icecast1)....

Is there a way to get a directory, which is called T: and has the

MGE Pulsar Extreme - restart problem
Hello,
looking for replacements for some older Powerware equipment I found the MGE
Pulsar Extreme 1000C and I'm currently testing one with nut-2.0.3 on a
self-brewn i386-linux.
Upto now everything seems to work fine - except I can't get the power outlets
switching on again after mains returns. As this works with Personal
Solution-Pac 2 on W2k I thought that there might be a way to

[PATCH] RPA authentication mechanism
Hello all,
attached patch implements Compuserve RPA athentication mechanism.
Tested with:
- Eudora 6 (uses Compuserve "Virtual Key" RPA software);
- TheBat! 2.11 (uses it's own RPA implementation).
I hope it can be useful for someone.
Best regards.

Icecast in Macromedia Flash
Hi Stephan,
Thanks for reporting. Now we know it doesn't work on IE 5.5/Windows (but it
works on IE5.2 on MAC). You had nice idea to store the file on the icecast2
root. Unfortunately, I already tried it few days ago and it didn't work
either...
Cheers,
MAX

Wine broken after upgrade
...one application was complaining of two failed devicesL /dev/mixer and /dev/mixer1 (no such file or directory). I think those were the names.
The applications I was trying to run were:
Virtual Rosary, which was working except for OLE as it wants to display images,
and
CS3, a crusty old version of CompuServe. It still had complaints, notable with OLE, but the sound worked and that despite the errors about /dev/mixer and /dev/mixer1
My available time to play is pretty much limited to weekends, and this one is gone. No hurry then for assistance. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to get the t...
