Could not insatall Internet Explorer on linux through wine.
Hi! First thing you shoud do is to update your wine. Get sources from winehq.com and compile. Second thing: I've heard that installing IE can not be done in normal way even if you had a brand new version of Wine. IE has to be copied from a properly installed Windows directory. See archives of this list to find out more. Best Regards, Tapio On Thursday 28 November 2002 11:41, Susant Padhi wrote:> Hi All > > I am using redhat linux(kernel 2.4.-10) and wine version 20010731. The link is my bank account. So sorry I will not post it. It seems, with some more poking on my part that if I have save passwords checked it stuff up due to the virtual keyboard that the site uses. To see the process you http://secure.heritageonline.com.au/NETBANKING/netbanking.html click on the personal banking link and then you get the page that tends to stuff up. Everthing is fine if I have not tried to save a password for this site but if I have then the system locks me out. But if I have it does not seem to show in the manage passwords dialog. Where do I start to try to debug this? Bob Lockie wrote:> Phillip John Shelton wrote: > >> Or, as I do, they use a site regulary that so far, only works >> reliably on IE. It may be that Mozilla is not a "supported" browser but it should work with any standards complient web sites (banking sites have no reason to not follow the standards). I use Mozilla to do my online banking. Run Mozilla from a command prompt and see if it reports any errors.> > Bob Lockie wrote: > >> Phillip John Shelton wrote: >> >>> Or, as I do, they use a site regulary that so far, only works >>> reliably on IE. He isnt joking, and this UK site writings are All Lies. This is only a way to have less work to do for the web people. IE is less secure than mozilla at many points.> > Send an email to your bank saying they are doing something non > > standard. My bank happily lets me use IE, Mozilla, Opera and Konqueror.
