This message is for those who wants to help Wine project but do not know where to start. We need contributors of a wide range of skills. The minimal requirements are: access to a computer with Linux (or other Unix-like system) where you can use Wine. We have a lot of tasks which are relatively easy to do. The fact that these tasks are easy does not mean they are not important. Examples of the easiest non-programming tasks available: * we *badly* need application owners. An application owner is a person who often uses some application and will help to make it work perfectly under Wine. Does anybody use Lotus Notes regulary under Wine? * confirm and research bugs in Wine Bugzilla http://bugs.winehq.com * Add a 'Debunking Wine Myths' web page http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=606 Examples of the easiest programming tasks available: * Help Wine hackers - document Wine debugging channels http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=638 * Improve RichEdit headers http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=330 Easy, aren't they? Do you need more choice? * file BUGS in the Wine source tree gives more information how you can help the project * bug 406 contains list of issues which is easy to fix. Don't be afraid to fix all the easy issues, so nothing will be left to others. We'll gladly add more! :-) http://bugs.winehq.com/showdependencytree.cgi?id=406 * suggest your help on wine-devel mailing list. Don't forget to mention your skills, experience and what you want to work on. If you want to know more - just ask. Have fun! Hello, My hard desire is to make Outlook to work with Wine. Word & co already are startable and possible usable from my P.o.V. I have some C/C++ programming experience, but not raw net access. Only by HTTP proxy, so CVS will not be an option. Maybe contrib only with patches. But I need and easy way to not donwload all tree dayly. Is an HTTP or FTP url where I can download daily compressed diffs? Thank you! I'm concentrating on short term issues at the moment. I have both Intellicad 2000 and Intellicad 2001 running with wine. icad2001 i have running with no copied or downloaded dlls. this will make the distributing a working installation a little easier from a legal standpoint. Intellicad2000 still requires additionall native dlls that do not come with the downloadable file. the good news is that Icad2001 does work this way, the bad news is that it is not as stable as with the native dlls. i've posted a new copy of the how-to to my site at http://pfrostie.freeservers.com/cad-tastrafy/wine.page1.html the mirror still has the older version taylored for icad2000 at http://www.dragon-designs.net/~cad-tastrafy/wine.page1.html just so that there is not any confusion, the site is dedicated to cad and graphic tools, there is a Wine section but not all the application need wine to run on linux. as always i'm not only open to feed back but i need it to help make the how-to more complete. there will always be configurations that have special requirements. one question i would like feed back on, should i keep the information on the older 2000 version in the how-to or does this make it to confusing? longer term goal would be a winelib port. for those not familliar with the ITC (Intellicad Technical Consortium) it has many members and it is posible to registar as a non-commercail member and have access to the source code. although the licence is not GPL, X11, or BSD in nature it is a open source project. this is one reason i like it. -- Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of DOS, and danced the skies on Linux silvered wings. http://pfrostie.freeservers.com/cad-tastrafy/ http://www.freelists.org/list/cad-linux
