Everytime I start a program with wine-20010629 on Red Hat Linux, font metrics get updated. I am getting fonts through the Xserver (no xfont server) (currently M$, ghostscript, Type1, misc and 75dpi fonts) Is this behaviour normal? Everytime this happens, I get lots of output like fixme:font:LFD_InitFontInfo DBCS fonts like '-urw-century schoolbook l-bold-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-big5.eten-0' are not working correctly now and fixme:font:LFD_InitFontInfo font '-urw-nimbus mono l-regular-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-big5.eten-0' has unknown registry 'big5.eten' and character encoding '0' fixme:font:LFD_InitFontInfo font '-urw-urw palladio l-regular-i-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-fcd8859-15' has unknown registry 'fcd8859' and character encoding '15' (red hat is full of these strange encodings...) Ideas on how to correct this? -- Claudio Bandaloukas

Anthony Argyriou Unix _is_ user-friendly. It's just selective about its friends.

Here recently (cvs-wine-010703) I get similar behaviour whenever I start a new session with X == usually this means when I crank up my computer. ~/.wine/cachedmetrics.:0 exists but wine starts to build another ~/.wine/cachedmetrics.:0.0 as if there was no file before. Then I can start as many times or/and as many programs with wine as I like without rebuilding fontmetrics until the next boot. I had no time to investigate more on this problem. Is there a new undocumented feature in ~/.wine/config? Should it not read "cachedmetrics.:0.0" in the first place? XFree 3.3.6 here with xfstt Regards, Ike -- . .
