Hi all,
the latest release of vorbis-tools was almost four years ago. Are there
any plans to release a new version?
I'm the German translator of vorbis-tools at translationsproject.org,
and my translation resides there for more than three years. Recently
I've updated it. Moreover, some more new and updated translations have
arrived, so it would be worth to roll out a new version.
Besides that, I've translated the included man pages, which are
published through the man-pages-de project [1]. This is OK so far, but
this project is purely Debian-based. This means, updates of the man
pages to update the translations are fetched from packages in Debian
Sid. No problem for now besides the fact that a man page could be in the
system without the actual vorbis-tools package installed, due to the age
of the upstream package most distributions ship the same version. Once
vorbis-tools gets updated, it could happen that different Linux
distributions ship different versions, and translations become partially
outdated. That's why it would be better to maintain them upstream and
provide the template through the TP. Shouldn't be that hard to implement
po4a [2] for an appropriate workflow (which is used anyway for a lot of
man page translation projects, like man-db and most of the Debian man
pages). I could help out setting up this.
Best Regards,
Mario
