Problems with some components of R
Madam, Sir, I have downloaded and transfered to my P.C (Window 98) the version of R which has been split on purpose, that is to say the rw0990b1.zip ,rw0990b2.zip ,etc files. I encountered no problem as far as the installation is concerned. But when I try to run some function ,for instance loess, it issued an error message stating that an underlying Fortran program is not properly loaded.

building a package
Dear R-helpers, I'm learning how to compile R packages with fortran routines and use the acepack source as an example. After some hiccups (Guido told me about the need to set make_mode=UNIX) I got to the following: `make pkg-acepack' runs without error (see below), but it does not * compile any .f file in acepack/src * (hence) try to create any dll file or libs (I'm

Building acepack for Rw1000 under Win98
(Sorry, I had the previous emails on a different machine.) Thanks to Prof Ripley for diagnosing the problem with inconsistent capitals under Win98. It's 'interesting': * I had ...\acepack\Src\Ace.f Avas.f and Rlsmo.f (tar'ed in a Unix machine and Ws_FTP'ed to the PC) * when the directory name was changed to ...\acepack\src it still didn't work *

linux kernel, git, and stateful sync
I just read an article on Kernel Trap that mentioned that rsync wasn't quite meeting the needs of the linux kernel developers and I was wondering if H. Peter Anvin or Nathan Laredo had expressed their needs to the rsync developers? I didn't see anything in the mail archives. ==== ... While the public portion of the Linux Kernel Archives is served by the hardware described above, there is

Re: problem posting to r-help list
You are using the wrong make. Please read the instructions very carefully. You _must_ use the cygwin make with the supplied Makefiles. As INSTALL says: You will also need suitable versions of at least make, sh, rm, sed, (g)awk, mkdir, echo, cp, cut, diff, grep, egrep, pwd, expr and cat; we use those from the cygwin distribution (http://sourceware.cygnus.com/cygwin and several

installing package in Windows
Could you help me in getting a package to compile from source in Windows? I'm running Windows NT 4.0 on a pentium 450 with 128 Mb of Ram. I've got R 1.0.0. I am developing a package for R which includes a bit of C code. I have things working in Unix just fine, and now I want to port it to Windows NT. I've been following the instructions in the R complements to Venables and

how to document user-defined packages for windows
After several hours of trial and error I've figured out how to create packages for use by rw1000 ("Writing R Extensions" seems not to cover this). I haven't been able to figure out how to make help files work. I want plain text only, via help(name) or ?name. I create a 'help' subdirectory containing a 00Titles file and function-specific help files in the package

KS Test for Mixture of Distributions
Hi all, How can we use ks.test() to evaluate goodness of fit of mixtures of distributions? For example I have the following dataset: > x [1] 176.1 176.8 259.6 171.6 90.0 234.3 145.7 113.7 105.9 176.2 168.9 136.1 [13] 109.2 110.3 164.3 117.7 131.3 163.7 200.4 196.4 196.2 168.6 190.4 127.5 [25] 136.0 114.2 112.0 91.9 333.4 295.5 172.0 293.3 91.7 289.7 118.8 55.1 [37] 161.9 233.9 197.7

SYSLINUX 2.20-pre13 - RELEASE CANDIDATE
With some help from Nathan Laredo, I cribbed my way though porting the Win32 installer on my own accord. Thus, I believe we now have something which can be called a release candidate. Given how much stuff managed to make it in, after all, I'm seriously considering calling it 3.00, but for now it's 2.20-pre13. So, everyone that can, please test it out. In particular, I have not yet

Installing a Library
Hello, I have been trying to install library boot and it's giving me the warning message "No R source code in library: library(boot)". I downloaded the library correctly and unzipped it to rw1000/library, so I don't know what the problem could be. If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

To Brian Ripley, Thanks! Yes indeed, It functions if you hit return at the prompt 1: but this had to be done for five times! Problem with a if statement inside a function
I have a really long functions, and at the end of the function, I am using a if statement to tag certain keywords based on whether they have certain values contained in them. However, the if statement doesn't seem to work. When I had split up the commands into various functions, it worked fine, but I'm not sure what going on now that it's combined into a single function. myfunc
