Error compiling R.2.8.1 with gcc 4.4 on Mac OS 10.5.6
Hi all,
I've encountered a build error with the latest R source (2.8.1). This is a
relatively fresh install of OS Leopard (10.5.6), latest developer tools
installed, gcc/g++/gfortran version 4.4 installed (via
http://hpc.sourceforge.net/, after which I updated the gcc & g++ symlinks to
link to the 4.4 versions; gfortran used the 4.4 version without updating the
symlink).
Ultimately I

MKL Acceleration encouraging; need adjust package builds?
Hi Paul,
We've been through this process ourselves for the Revolution R Open project. There are a number of pitfalls to avoid, but you can take a look at how we achieved it in the build scripts at:
https://github.com/RevolutionAnalytics/RRO
There are also some very useful notes in the R Installation guide:

Esperanza de vida librería 'demography'
Buenos días,
Necesito calcular la vida media de cada uno de nuestros modelos de producto pero tengo un histórico incompleto (para los productos más nuevos tengo la vida completa de las cohortes, pero para los más antiguos tengo sólo la parte final de la vida de las cohortes). He decidido calcular la esperanza de vida dinámica con un modelo actuarial, concretamente la librería 'demography'

Infinite Loop when installing a package from source (PR#9258)
Full_Name: Charles Dupont
Version: Version 2.3.1
OS: linux
Submission from: (NULL) (160.129.129.136)
I think that this is infinite. I let it run for 30 minutes. During which it
consumed 98% of my memory (1Gb) and steadily helled 90-99% of CPU.
Steps to reproduce problem
1. get a source package e.g. Hmisc.
2.
$ echo "library(Hmisc)" > Hmisc/R/test.R
3.
$ R CMD INSTALL -d -l

errors when installing packages (ubuntu)
Hi List,
I'm having problems installing certain packages. When I try to install
fields, I get the output below. I have highlighted the what I perceive as
the first error (spam seems to be a dependency of fields). Can I assume this
is causing dependency problems for fields, which fails to install at the
end, or is there a deeper problem? I run Ubuntu Karmic Koala on R 2.9.2.

Spatstat
Hi all,
I am trying to install Spatstat on OpenSUSE 11.1.
install.packages("spatstat", dependencies = TRUE)
fails on the basis of various compiler packages (full message below).
I have gcc version 4.3.2, which should include gfortran and g++ - so I'm not
sure what to do!
