Dear all, I am trying to create a web interface using Perl-CGI to call R plots and to display them. The following codes works perfectly fine when I copy and paste into the console directly or if I save it into script.file and then R --no-save < script.file producing the graphs. jpeg("graph.jpeg", width=400, height=400) plot(rnorm(100)) dev.off() Now, I put the line system("R

Vncserver not serving up my gnome desktop, just a fancy terminal!
I have the vncserver running on CentOS 4, but when I log in using vncviewer from another box, I don't see my gnome desktop, just a fancy terminal. I suspect I need to edit the ~/.vnc "xstartup file, but what do I add to fix this. On all other distros I have tried, the vncserver serves up my gnome desktop by default. -- Lee Parmeter Emperor, linXos - The Flying Penguin

INIT 5 and system is gone
I had been running a system on Centos 5.1 at INIT 3. I did the upgrade to Centos 5.2 with the aid of the powernowk8 patch. Previously I would VNC into the unit when I needed to do admin stuff with a GUI. Well I noticed that I was NOT getting GNOME via VNC since the upgrade (worked before just fine with 5.1). So I tried an INIT 5 from the command line (always worked before), but the system

Xrdp
The VNC server just listens to the appropriate TCP/IP port and then runs Xvnc which does the actual VNC communication. Ideally I'd be able to do the same thing for RDP then the daemon doesn't get any more complicated, and a bug in the RDP layer can't crash the server. I don't know enough about how NX works but I suspect we could do the same thing as for VNC and RDP. I'm

Code review for stopper: 7315 xVM VNC service doesn''t work
http://cr.opensolaris.org/~johnlev/xvm-vnc-chown/ Now Xvnc runs as the ''jack'' user on the live CD, the password file must be owned by jack for it to work. Note that a full fix for this would make this VNC service only exist on the live CD[1]. As a temporary measure, we just disable ourselves post-install. Process question: after putting back to pkg-gate, does this need

Qemu vnc WMVi support
Hi all, the patch "qemu-vnc-wmvi.patch" adds support for the WMVi pseudoencoding in qemu vnc server. If the client implements it, it is supposed to be able to change colour depth when receiving a WMVi message. Since I didn''t know any client that supports it and I wanted to test the implementation before submitting any patch I also modified vncviewer to support WMVi. The

using vino on centos 4
sorry i figured this out after deleting the other parts of the thread. just run vino-preferences as the user who runs the main x display. it will have various options to enable and as soon as you do that you can get to hostname:0 via vnc. works quite well.

[Fwd: Weft - a free open-source QDA tool]
Hi Just released a first version of the WxRuby project I''ve been working on. Firstly, I wanted to say thanks to everyone on this list who''s helped at various points over the past year - every time I ran into a problem someone jumped in with advice. A very brief explanation of the app - I''m a sociologist/anthropologist by trade, and the app is intended for use in
