Directdraw and Wine Compilation
Hi, I am trying to compile wine in an AMD64 Ubuntu machine, taking the precautions needed shown in the winehq's wiki to do it. The compilation finishes fine, but for some reason there is no support for some things that used to have in the i386 pre-compiled package. One of them is ALSA sound. I use ALSA because for some reason OSS sometimes ruins the sound making it look like a loud scratch

Diablo 2 Glide Wrapper does not work with full screen mode
As the title mentions, full screen mode does not work with Diablo 2 while using Glide Wrapper, but it does "work" for Direct3D (it's incredibly choppy/laggy though). Another problem: In window mode, it runs very smoothly, but if I happen to click outside of the window, Wine freezes and I have to terminate the program. I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 and using the latest wine

OpenGL test?
First off I just want to say thank you to all who contribute to wine, it is an awesome piece of software for the Linux community. I am trying to find a way to do a simple OpenGL test within Wine. I have looked all over but I can't seem to find anything. What is the easiest way to test OpenGL and ensure that it's working correctly? The reason I'm asking is this: I recently upgraded

Best glide wrapper under wine
Has anybody found out which is the best glide wrapper to use under recent versions of wine? I'm trying to play some old windows games from the late '90s on my iMac (ATI 5670), most of them do not support neither opengl nor Direct3D, just Glide. I've tried running under Bootcamp / Windows 7, but it seems that right now wine has become more compatible for such software than windows

Glide-OpenGL wrappers
Hey folks. I'm certain this has been addressed before, but a google search hasn't been terribly helpful. Are there any windows Glide-OpenGL wrappers that are functional under WINE? I'm trying to get Wing Commander Prophecy to run in hardware mode, but with my configuration, Direct3D doesn't want to work (I've a PIII/600, MGA G550, 640MB ram, Xorg 6.8.1, kernel 2.6.9,

Direct3D fails to initialize in Diablo II/WINE
Hi all, I was trying to run Diablo II under WINE, but I receive a "Direct3D failed to initialize" error in a dialog box. The log says this: ***** DirectDraw error: Failed to get gamma control interface! - < unknown > (0x80004002) I tryed to run in both 640x480x16 and 640x480x8, but both give the same error message. Fedora 14 --> strange graphics issues.
I just upgraded from Fedora 11 to Fedora 14, and now I'm getting strange problems with graphics in multiple games that make me wonder if something is fundamentally broken: 1) I run world of warcraft full-screen at 2560x1600. Everything works fine, frame rate is high, etc. Then I switch workspaces and switch back, and now only the center 2048x1280 (estimated) is displayed, and my desktop is

Starcraft and Diablo II use a lot of CPU power
Hello, I am running Wine 1.0 under Fedora 9 x86_64. The problem is that the two mentioned games use a lot of CPU power about 50 % on a 2 Ghz Core 2 Duo. At first I thought this is caused by GDI DirectDraw renderer, but changing to opengl did not help. Also, it is just the same when you configure Diablo to use Direct3D renderer. Does anybody has any idea where can I look for the source of this

Diablo2 performances
Hello. I'm trying to run Diablo 2 under wine. The game installs fine (D2 + LoD + Patch 1.11b), but I experience some serious performances issues. Wine is set to Windows XP mode (otherwise, the game protection doesn't work). The game is very sluggish when the minimap is open, when setting the key binding, or on battle.net menus. The only choice I got from D2VidTst.exe is DirectDraw HAL.

I think I messed up DirectDraw.
I tried to run a demo of Hype: The time quest (Windows 95/98, uses directX6 or some glide3 for 3D stuff) to see if it would work. It installed, but comes up with a weird "Cannot find a game using directdraw" error. I uninstalled it and went about my way. While it would be cool to have this run, that is not my main problem. Now, I cannot run Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (also windows 95/98--runs

Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge much slower with 0.9.16
RA2:YR is a 2D game - I think it probably uses DirectDraw. It runs slower with 0.9.16 and now the in game cursor flickers. Besides minor audio problems it ran fine in 0.9.15. I tried setting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D\DirectDrawRenderer to "gdi". It made no difference. Is that the corrent way to turn off the new DirectDraw changes?

Diablo 2 greyscale WINE 1.1.31
I am having difficulty getting D2 w/ LOD 1.12 to run in colour through wine. I am running a ASUS eeepc 701 w/ the cpu running at 900mhtz and 2gb of ram. OS is Ubuntu 9.10 netbook edition and the game is installed on a Western Digital Elements 1tb hdd connected through usb 2.0 and I had to install the GLIDE3toOpenGL-wrapper v 1.4d to get it to run at all. The game runs fine, considering the

Re: Diablo II LoD Crushed to go to Act 2!
I don't know what video card you have, but you may want to try running Diablo II in Glide mode, using the Glide-to-OpenGL wrapper: http://www.svenswrapper.de/english/index.html Place the contents of the wrapper into the Diablo II folder. With Wine run the "glide-init.exe" and you can try a test of the wrapper there. If all is well, run the Diablo II Video Test and Glide mode

Do's & Don'ts when creating a Win app to be wine compatible ?
Hi, i am in the process of prototyping a small (inter-)network game client that is intented to run on windows. I don't have the time nor desire to create a dedicated linux port of it, but as some users may want to use it on linux, i'd like to know what points could be important to make a win app run as smoothly on wine as possible with little extra effort. Development system will be
