Thanks for "fighting the good fight". Anyway, onward with the question. I currently have a cracked version of AOE II, including the Conquerors expansion on my computer. Before I got it on the

Age of Empires II Won't Run
I can't seem to get Age of Empires II to run after successful installation. I have created a new WINEPREFIX directory and installed it there and tried first without directx and with it. It is gold on the appdb so I'm a bit surprised. OS is Ubuntu 8.10 and I have tried with wine 1.1.15, 1.1.14 and 1.01. Each time it dumps the memory. Thanks for any help.

Cannot install aok (Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings) on Wine
Hi there, I'm running Wine 1.3.28 on Ubuntu Oneiric and I cannot manage to get aok installed. The installation routinely freezes immediately after the program starts to copy the first file, the message that pops up says there isn't enough space on disk (clearly a false statement) or that the folder is being used by some other program (which one?). Thanks for your help.

wine font colors (age of empires 2)
hey all, i got age of empires 2 running fairly well in linux using the latest cvs of winex. it's fully playable (a tad slow in some areas, but fully playable nonetheless), with minor graphic glitches. the fonts are driving me crazy though, they are drawn in black, and would be much easier to read if they were white. is there any way to force wine to use a certain font color? i know you

Age of Empires doesn't start
Hi. I've been trying to make AoE (I or II) work on Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04, with Wine 1.1.37 (more recent versions don't start Civ4, and I prefer to play Civ4 than AoE ;-) The installation works fine, but the game crashes with the famous "We are sorry" window. This is a trace of a terminal start : nico at gaston:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Age of Empires II$

Greetings from a Space Empires nut!
Hi everybody! I'm a fan of Space Empires who just switched to Linux, and I've been having some trouble with Space Empires and Wine. For one thing, when I run Space Empires IV Gold, it works almost flawlessly - thanks, I couldn't have switched to Linux without knowing I could still play SE4 ;-) - but there's one little problem... when I alt- tab or minimize the game and bring it

Space Empires: Starfury problems
Hello all, I am attempting to get this game running under wine, but have encountered some difficulties. When I start the game, a blank window pops up, then the startup window opens, and then it goes full screen, even though I have it set in the wine config AppDefaults section to run the game in managed desktop mode. In looking at the terminal ouput, I see this:

Now I can start the age3.exe (replaced with a no-cd version) and the game starts up. There are 2 or 3 video trailers and after that the game just exists with an error message ("Age 3 has

SSfpl self-start sometimes fails... workaround proposed
Hello, nls library provides 6 self-starting models, among them: SSfp, a four parameters logistic function. Its self-starting procedure involves several steps. One of these steps is: pars <- as.vector(coef(nls(y ~ cbind(1, 1/(1 + exp((xmid - x)/exp(lscal)))), data = xydata, start = list(lscal = 0), algorithm = "plinear"))) which assumes an initial value of lscal equal to 0. If lscal
