[Shorewall-users] Age of Empires II playing on the internet
I recently installed Shorewall and had it running (including the network behind the firewall) within 30 minutes, excellent I should say. However I am facing a problem with the game Age of Empires from Microsoft. It is not possible to play the game in the MSNzone from a PC behind the firewall. When I connect the PC (windows XP) directly to the cable connection, everything is working. I am for sure a beginner in Linux and Shorewall so I would appreciate if somebody can tell me how the rules must look like. See below some details about my configuration and Microsoft advice. Thanks in advance for the help Rene van Kleef, the Netherlands ****** DETAILS ****** My configuration: - Cable connection - Linux box, Pentium 166Mhz + 64MByte + Linux7.2 + Shorewall and IPTables v1.2.4 - WindowsXP PC in internal Network, IP-address 192.168.1.60 - Eth0 internal network, static IP addressing - Eth1 cable connection, dhcp Microsoft is saying the following ports must be open and can be optionally based on the zone.msn.com IP address 207.46.203.12 Initial TCP connection ------------------------------- Client: 47624 outbound Host: 47624 Inbound Subsequent TCP inbound ------------------------------------- Client: 2300-2400 Host:2300-2400 Subsequent TCP outbound -------------------------------------- Client: 2300-2400 Host: 2300-2400 Subsequent UDP inbound -------------------------------------- Client: 2300-2400 Host:2300-2400 Subsequent UDP outbound --------------------------------------- Client: 2300-2400 Host: 2300-2400 TCP ports must be open: ----------------------------------- 80 443 6667 28800-29000

Please at least try to do it yourself. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Shorewall - iptables made easy AIM: tmeastep \ http://www.shorewall.net ICQ: #60745924 \ teastep@shorewall.net
