Voice Over WiFi
Hello all, this is not really an * question but it is somehow related, i am trying to develop a working proposal for cheap and quick telephony services using Voip running over *. By running a wireless network (over 802.11 a/b/g devices), i plan to be able to reach customers directly with eithe table top or handheld 802.11 sip enabled phones. But the disadvantage is that how do i power each radio

UTStarcom F1000 WiFi IP Phone Review
I bought a UTStarcom F1000 WiFi IP Phone from http://www.luxoncomm.com and tested it with Asterisk. This is a my first impression of the device. The F1000 supports SIP. It looks and operates like a cell phone, and connects to the Internet through WiFi, so you can use it at any WiFi hotspot. I set up a 802.11b wi-fi network with a Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless-B broadband router with no security

Digium S101I as a traveling companion
I have a few questions with regards to Digium S101I adapter. I would like to use it as a traveling companion, plugging it into various networks (all behind firewall I assume). I'll be registering it into my asterisk server (behind firewall, port 4569 will be open). 1.) If I plug that small adapter S101I into another network will that network have to have port 4569 open as well? 2.) If

Wi-SIP vs. SIP-DECT
Anybody care to muse on Wi-SIP vs. SIP-DECT? My limited research indicates that none of the WiSip phones will ever be able to match the performance of DECT phones. Maybe I'm wrong but a Wi-SIP phone seems like a DIESEL sports car. There is nothing wrong with the technology, but it seems like a shoe-horned fit into the requirements of a wireless endpoint. DECT uses a wireless radio layer

OT: Question about Wifi sniffing on network
Most of you have needed at one time or another to sniff network traffic for trouble shooting purposes. Today I noticed that one of my SIP phone's web interface worked much faster with Opera, so I wanted to see what exactly was going on. I set up Wireshark and toook a look, but I got distracted by the fact that I saw a bunch of strange things coming from "FreeboxS_nn". I know my

conference and wifi phones
Hi guys, I'm looking for a affordable conference phone and a wifi phone that has a cradle. Polycom seems to make pretty nice conf phones but the price is a bit crazy for us. I saw the recommendation with ATA plus an analog Polycom phone but I do prefer a SIP phone. All because it's just too difficult to pull a phone cable into the current conference room. Is there any cheaper SIP

Iaxy clicking
Hi, I have three Iaxy devices (s101i) parts. Two of them seem to work fine. The third plays a loud repeating click sound when an analog phone is plugged in. I can provision all of them, and make calls to all of them. The clicking one will blink when a call is incoming, but no audio from the call can be heard on the handset, and the caller only hears silence. The same handset works on the

Best Wireless bridge for Polycoms
Hi, I'm stuck doing an install with Polycoms at a small office with no RJ-45. They went wireless 100%, poor them. I insist on using Polycom unless it's impossible because that's what I am standardized on for many reasons. What's the best way/device to turn a wired Polycom 501 (or any Polycom for that matter) into a WiFi phone? Mike -------------- next part --------------

[OT] wi-fi ip phone scenario
Hello everyone. I know it's a little bit off-topic, but I was just wondering... Has anyone ever had any experience with asterisk, a wi-fi meshed lan (with more than one access point) and wi-fi sip phones? I made some tests but I'm not really satisfied.... Wi-fi phones are a curse (as far as I know even Nokia eSeries -I personally own an e70 model- have their flaws): - random sip

Cisco SPA3102 Thoughts & Other Recommendations
I'm looking to build a VoIP solution for 100+ service vehicles that have WiFi hot spots installed (with cellular uplinks). Currently we are trying out Skype wireless handselts and Majick Jack. I'd also like to consider an Open Source solution that can bring the calls back to our data center [possibly integrated without our existing BCM 3.x VoIP PBX]. For hardware someone on the IRC
