Are there any other wireless IP phones out there other then the Cisco 7920?? -- James Moran <jmoran@potentialtech.com> Potential Technologies
Why not get a analogue to IP adapter, then use a Digital Cordless phone. Much cheeper than the 7920 and works wonders for me. I've got a couple of adapters for sale at the moment, e-mail me if your interested ! You cant use that many wifi phones on a single floor anyway. Try looking at a dect solution that can operate as a standalone solution to your asterisk. I would take a look at www.kirk.com. They have a DECT basestation with H323 interface. You can register all your hand set on a single station and then use their DECT repeater to get the area coverage. Its expensive for a small system but with 30 handsets it should be comparable to wifi phones and you get at least 5 times the standby/talktime. my 2 cents. Freddi
John, Check out www.vocera.com instead then. Built for this exact situation. Nope I works differently, they use it in a few hospitals here in Sydney, basically it works like the new gsm 'push to talk' service being rolled out, basically limited number of frequencies, voice 'envelope' being delivered as a best case availability basis. It's not a 'held up' tdma style call flow that wifi phones are.
