Sorry that bit wasn't too clear. I think people can accept being called newbies, I certainly don't mind. But the term noob is generally viewed as an insult, I think some people

gnucash in a yum repo somewhere?
I'm attempting to install a gnucash rpm I've come across but the dependency
list is long. I've searched high and low and can't find a nice yum repo with
it and all of it's dependencies. Does anyone know if it lives in a yum repo
anywhere? I'm getting lazy in my old age(just turned 30) and I just wanna
"yum install" it rather than tracking it all down like I

Firefox ''Rails Mailing List'' search engine plugin
Hi all,
If you''re like me you probably spend a lot of time search the Rails
mailing list. To make life a little bit easier I''ve created a nice
little plugin for firefox ( A whopping 15 lines of markup ). The plugin
uses nabble.com to search the mailing list.
Anyways, I thought I''d share.
If you want to install it the manual way, here''s the code.

CentOS Based Fierwall Document
For those of you that either have an older revision of my firewall document, or are otherwise keeping track of it, there is a new version available. The current version of the document is version 3.1. It's changed rather significantly in some areas.

RFD: create new list and forum 'wine-newbies'
It has been suggested that the wine-users list
is now too busy, and needs to be split into two:
one for experienced users, and one for beginners.
However, this might leave the beginners adrift
without any experienced people to help them.
So I don't think we should do it unless at least
a handful of experienced users are willing to join the
new group and lend a hand. I'm willing, but I

It is not as much true about languages themselves (though it is true, and
I for one call python "sneaky snake" just because of that ;-), as about
how the software using these languages is written. E.g. well known
mailman. I never had it give me any trouble

After years - goodbye to Wine-Users
After being on this list for years, mostly as a lurker and sometime
participant, I find that due specifically to the new changes in list
membership via the forums that it's time for me to unsubscribe. While
I think it's a very healthy in the long run to have more folks
participating in Wine's growth I also find the quality of the emails
coming across my desk to be significantly less

Rails Newbie Forum?
Hi all.
I''m a new convert (or at least I want to be a convert) to Rails. I''ve
got the book, have read it, done bits and pieces of the demo, and tried
to apply it to a rather complicated DB I''ve got here. I''ve got a ton of
questions, and before I bore everyone here, is there a dedicated forum
for Rails newbies to get help?

Agile Web Development with Rails 1.1
Dave, on another topic, might I recommend that you and DHH publish an
updated version of the Agile guide right away when 1.1 comes out? You could
reuse much of your material and it would do a lot of good to help make sure
there is still a good centralized source of reference for Rails. Without
that book, there really is not a good one-stop source of information for
people to learn how to use

FAX, IAX and *....Maybe I'm dreaming...:-)
Hi,
It would be great if the IAX protocol will be able to tranfer fax data (even
converted in another format) between Asterisk boxes, using low bandwidth
codecs like GSM.
I know that this is possible only with the G.711 now (passing faxes using
the audio stream), but.... maybe in the future...some native support will
permit this.
Just a thought,

Anyone experienced RSpec/Autotest forgetting models?
Hi
Saving a controller spec frequently gives me this error:
52)
LoadError in ''UsersController GET /users with basic request params should
find all the user types''
Expected /home/amoran/Documents/becta/apps/Backend/app/models/user_type.rb
to define UserType
./spec/controllers/users_controller_spec.rb:299:
script/spec:4:
I have to Ctrl-C autotest before it will load again.

Help from a more experienced WINE developer
Hiya,
So in an attempt to get Champions Online working under WINE, I have been debugging it and I have found that the function IWineD3DVolumeImpl_UnlockBox (it can be found in WINE_SRC/dlls/wined3d/volume.c) is being called twice on the same object thus in the second attempt it is trying to unlock an already unlocked object, which seems to be generating the error. I have searched the WINE code

Requesting advice from experienced * users/developers
Greetings,
I have a couple of questions and figured I would put them all in one
message to not spam the list as much as possible. I have searched
voip-info, google and the list archives for all of these questions. If
I have missed the correct response, please accept my apologies.
I have been stuck on these for a long time and I am really hoping that
the other users out there will be able to

Experienced Samba+Ldap+ACL in Windows TSE context ?
Hello list !
All is in the subject.
I'd like to have your opinion for such a migration.
We'd like to replace a Windows NT4 PDC wich authenticate TSE users in a
domain that contains ~250 users.
The backend would be an LDAP base and we would like to use ACL to
control access to the files.
Any return of informations ?
Thanks for your help.
